This high-quality, carefully crafted, soft enamel challenge coin (1.75 inch diameter) features a classic raised metal and recessed enamel design of the Blue Banner on one side and "For Christ and Covenant' on the other.

"Coins like this are used among military units, to show identity, honor camaraderie, and foster unity. The history of such coins is disputed, but they have come to have a highly respected place among service members.

This particular coin is designed to remind members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of their rich history. It represents visually the Covenanters’ theological and political ideals and their martial methods of achieving them, rather than being based on any actual historic artifacts.

With unreserved commitment to the Holy Scriptures, Presbyterians in Scotland affirmed the National Covenant in 1638. This covenant gave expression to a deep desire to maintain the true worship of God, the majesty of the king, and the peace of the kingdom, for the happiness of those who swore it and their children.

In part, they committed themselves to defend the true religion and to labor to recover the purity and liberty of the gospel. They promised and swore to continue in their profession of faith and obedience to that same true religion. Finally, they promised to lead their families and so be good examples of all godliness, soberness, and righteousness, and of every duty owed to God and others.

My hope is that this coin may in some small way encourage the possessor to continue in the profession of faith that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord of people and nations, and that in loyalty and obedience to Him, it is our duty to follow the noble example of the faithful confessors and martyrs of Jesus in their witness for divine truth, and in their sacrifices and labors to establish the kingdom of God on earth."
