Out of Egypt tells the dramatic story of Israel’s enslavement by Egypt and their eventual deliverance—all through scripture reading and psalm singing. It’s a story telling that will be easily appreciated by young and old alike.
Great for a special event, the cantata can be sung and read by a small or large group, ideally led by some strong singers familiar with the music. Everyone’s participation in the readings and singing aids full engagement in this story, along with the wisdom and amazement it offers.
The cantata was originally composed by Charles McBurney for the Christian Student Fellowship choir at Geneva College. It has been rewritten to update language and use arrangements from the 2009 Book of Psalms for Worship.
